Day 5 & 6 - Oct. 5 & 6 - Bozeman, MT

Much has happened since I last made time to write. I arrived near Bozeman at dusk, so headed straight for my Hipcamp location, which turned out to be west of Bozeman and north of I-90 by about 20 miles near the town of Trident. The road there wound through golden hills accented with ponderosa pine trees and breathtaking glimpses of the Missouri River. The campsite was tree shaded, which was a relief from the 80+ degree big sky sunshine.

Too remote for cell service and tired from the drive, I went to bed early only to be wakened in the dark by what I thought was another camper taking a long time to turn off their motor. It wasn’t till much later that I realized it had been a passing train with many cars. The sound felt like the train was going right through the RV. Exhilarating!

The next morning, Tuesday, the 6th, I headed for Bozeman, MT, thinking I would start at the library where I could use the Internet to get my next blog written and posted. Parr for the course, the library was closed for a staff meeting. Recalculating… off to Gallatin Co. Fairgrounds for my next campsite. They had internet so I was able to get various chores done and contact the Her Travel Circle person in Bozeman for a meetup. We got acquainted at a nearby Applebees, across from Dairygold where she is a supervisor.

Her name is Sarah and she’s had quite an interesting life. A few highlights include her being an administrator for a skilled nursing facility during the Covid era, and several smaller facilities in the meantime until she burned out. Dairygold is less stressful but requires 10 hours on her feet on concrete. She loves hiking in Europe and also remote SW USA and loves her dogs and cats. We agreed to go to the Bozeman Hot Springs after she got off work at 2:00 the next day.
