Day 7 - Oct. 7, Bozeman, MT
Bozeman also has free buses like Missoula, so I planned to catch a bus and ride around till I found something I wanted to do. I missed the bus going by the Fairgrounds by one minute. I thought to walk the 1/4 mile to the Main Street to see if I could catch another bus. I walked for blocks and blocks on the main drive looking for another bus stop. I had downloaded a map of the routes, but not a schedule.
I eventually came upon a woman who looked like she was waiting for the bus and struck up a conversation with her. Jan was a tourist as well from Tucson, AZ. We quickly found that not only do we have matching purses, we have very similar world outlooks. We eventually flagged down a bus and sat together continuing our conversation. I decided to just tag along with her and visit the Museum of the Rockies. It required a bus change and a long walk to get there, so I didn’t have much time before I needed to leave to get back to my RV to meet Sarah. Jan and I exchanged contact info and said farewell, then I scurried to catch the bus.
Missed it. A bus for senior and disabled pulled up. I begged a ride, but he wasn’t allowed without proper enrollment. He referred me to Go Go Grandparent which is a nationwide 24/7 ride and delivery service for seniors rather like Uber/Lyft. I was able to get a ride from a retired engineer to my RV in time to get ready for Sarah and take a 15 minute nap.
Bozeman Hot Springs is very posh with pools indoors and out of varying temperatures. It was lovely! They even have a stage for life music. After we were thoroughly “wet-noodled,” soaked and relaxed, I took Sarah to dinner and she dropped me back at my RV. I remained noodled so went to bed at 6:30. I woke at 4:30 AM and headed for Billings.
Before I left Tacoma, I had Mercedes Benz give my RV the once over. Needless to say they found much to fix. Unfortunately they didn’t reattach the passenger headlight, so today, I am at Mercedes in Billings. They reattached the light but somehow noticed my differential leaking…. 8( …so here I sit with lots of time to write while they fix.
I’ll be heading north on I-94 towards Miles City, then east to Standing Rock Reservation and the Water Defenders. Stayed tuned!

Oh nice! You visited one of my fantasy road trip destinations (Museum of the Rockies)!
